Delete Your Account

Effective 2026-09-05

This page explains how to permanently delete your Guidacle account and the personal data associated with it. Guidacle is operated by KICODE AS (org.nr 937 901 143), Norway. You can delete your account from inside the app, or request deletion by email if you no longer have access to the app.

1. Cancel your subscription first

Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play. Subscriptions are held by Apple or Google, not by us, and they keep renewing until you cancel them there. Do this before you delete the account, so you are not charged for an account that no longer exists:

Cancelling stops the next renewal; the time you have already paid for stays available until it runs out. See our Cancellation Policy for the details.

2. Delete your account from inside the app

The fastest way is to do it yourself while signed in:

  1. Open the Guidacle app and sign in.
  2. Open Settings and choose Delete account.
  3. Confirm when prompted. Deletion happens right away and cannot be undone.

If you signed in with Apple, you can also stop Guidacle from using your Apple ID afterwards: on your device, open Settings, tap your name, then Sign in with Apple, choose Guidacle and select Stop using Apple ID.

3. Request deletion by email

If you can't sign in, email support@guidacle.com from the email address on your account, with the subject "Account deletion request". We will verify ownership of the address and delete the account on your behalf. We respond to deletion requests within 30 days.

4. What is deleted

When your account is deleted we remove the personal data we hold about you, including:

  • Your account and login credentials (email address, user ID, linked sign-in providers).
  • Your profile: display name, username, bio, profile photo, and any route cover images you uploaded.
  • Saved routes, trips, places and episodes.
  • Who you follow and who follows you.
  • In-app preferences and settings.
  • Usage and activity history tied to your account.

Location coordinates are not retained beyond the immediate request that needed them, so there is no stored location history to delete.

Photographs you take with the camera feature are kept with the place they identified, because they are what other people are shown for that place. Deleting your account unlinks your photographs from you, but does not take down one that is already being shown. Email us if you want that done.

5. What we keep, and for how long

Your account data is removed from our active databases immediately on deletion and purged from backups within 30 days.

We retain a limited set of records where the law requires it, principally payment and invoice records. For web purchases these are held by our Merchant of Record, Paddle.com Inc.; for in-app purchases, by Apple or Google. They are kept for the period required by tax and accounting rules (typically up to 5 to 10 years depending on jurisdiction), along with minimal records needed for fraud prevention. These records are kept only as long as legally necessary and are not used for any other purpose.

The record that a free day was granted is kept, with your account detached from it, as a one-way hash of the sign-in address. The hash is never linked to a person again and is not reversible on its own; it exists so that deleting an account and creating a new one with the same address does not grant a second free day.
